Datek Online Promotes Nicoll, Mullin, Sorrentino

Edward Nicoll last week was named chief operating officer of DatekOnline Holdings Corp., the parent of online broker Datek Online BrokerageServices Corp.

Nicoll, a co-founder of Waterhouse Securities, was previously presidentof Datek's online brokerage unit. He will be succeeded by John Mullin. Inaddition, Ralph Sorrentino has been named president of Datek OnlineClearing Corp.

Nicoll joined the firm in January as president, a stepping-stone to theCOO position, Datek officials said. He will report directly to JefferyCitron, chairman and CEO of the firm.

Before joining Datek, Nicoll was chairman of Wall Street Connect Llc, avoice-recognition technology firm.

Mullin joins the firm from Waterhouse, where he was responsible for theonline brokerage division's day-to-day operations.

Sorrentino previously was executive vice president of Datek's onlinebrokerage unit. Before joining Datek, he was senior vice president anddirector of operations for Gruntal & Co. Llc, where he directed a staff of230 employees and was responsible for managing products for the firm'sdomestic and international custody and clearing operations. n -MichaelDabai
