StreamBase-Reuters Upgrade
February 11, 2008
StreamBase Systems, a provider of complex event processing technology, has released a new version of its StreamBase Studio Reuters Edition application development platform. The upgraded platform--version 1.0 was launched in November--offers support for Reuters Data Feed Direct, a source of low-latency, full-tick feeds and the NewsScope Real-Time news service.
John Partridge, VP of business development at Lexington, Mass.-based StreamBase, said the added features makes it easier for Reuters subscribers to write an algorithm that correlates stock price with breaking news events. He expects to see many users start to build their own, news-sentiment-driven trading applications.
Other new functionality includes Reuters Schema Designer, which allows clients to quickly identify what information is available on a particular instrument or security, and support for Reuters Foundation Architecture 6, giving developers the ability to utilize a wider range of message types at higher speeds. A new configuration wizard allows users to more easily connect with Reuters Market Data System feeds and avoid manual errors. "Without the wizard, you end up doing a lot of the integration by hand and that can invite a great many typographical errors," Partridge said.
