Stockholm-based trading systems supplier Orc Software has named Marty Leamy president of its North American operations. Most recently VP of field operations in the Americas at security specialist Check Point Software, Leamy replaces Martin Koopman, who joined Orc in 2005, following its acquisition of FIX protocol connectivity vendor Cameron Systems. Based in Chicago, Leamy "brings a solid track record of managing growth and implementing operational improvements," said Orc CEO Thomas Bill. Leamy joined Check Point in 2007 when it purchased Pointsec Mobile Technologies, an enterprise security software provider for laptop and desktop PCs and mobile devices, where he was president of operations in the Americas. He also logged nine years at Platinum Technology, heading up the systems management business unit. Said Leamy, "The turbulent market conditions today present a strong opportunity for Orc's advanced derivatives trading solutions as firms look for solutions to adapt to the market."

Stamford, Conn.-based Alphacet, which offers a quantitative strategy development and deployment platform, has created an advisory board with John Eley, CEO of Pivot, a provider of instant messaging-based trading tools, as chairman. Eley, who joined Pivot in December, was president and CEO of foreign exchange platform Hotspot FX from 2002 to 2006, when it was acquired by Knight Capital Group. Joining him on the advisory board are Peter Borish, chairman and CEO of Computer Trading Corp.; Ross Garon, managing member of hedge fund sponsor Tykhe Capital; Robert Levinson, professor of computer science at the University of California in Santa Cruz; Aron Miodownik, founder of IT advisory firm Cambrian Associates; and Ulf Svensson, former global head of electronic transaction services for hedge funds at Deutsche Bank. "By drawing on their expertise and deep understanding of financial markets," said Alphacet CEO Peter Sibirzeff, "we will be empowered to identify new trends and constantly improve our product."
