Sybase IQ Gets Smarter

March 2, 2009

Database technology provider Sybase says that it has bolstered the power and flexibility of its analytics server to provide faster, more accurate reporting and analysis.

Dan Lahl, director of analytics at Sybase in Dublin, Calif., pointed to increasing demand for real-time data warehouses, analytics servers and business intelligence. With the new version of Sybase IQ, said Lahl, "We're extending the power of the query capability so we can answer questions people have faster, service more users and take advantage of the new technologies coming online."

Enhancements include more scalable storage capacity and compute power, improved query processing and query algorithms and new encryption and authentication capabilities. In addition, data can now be loaded more quickly. "We've taken a product that had good loading speed and actually extended that," said Lahl.
