Knight Libertas, a fixed-income broker-dealer acquired by Jersey City, N.J.-based Knight Capital Group last year, has named John Price managing director and head of U.S. dollar bank capital securities. Previously, Price was at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he headed single-name credit trading for high-yield and high-grade bonds, and has also held fixed-income roles at Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley. The Greenwich, Conn.-based brokerage also named Terran Miller, formerly executive director of global credit strategies at UBS, as director of fixed-income research.

Global custodian bank Northern Trust Corp. has hired Madhu Gayer to head up its investment risk and analytical services unit in the Asia-Pacific region. Gayer, who will oversee client relations, sales and product development, joins from fixed-income fund manager Kapstream Capital in Sydney, where he was head of risk and developed the firm's in-house risk systems. Jim Trotter, global head of the unit, noted that Gayer "brings vast experience in compliance, risk and performance attribution." Gayer has also headed the investment analytics group at Challenger Financial Services Group.
