UNX, a Burbank, Calif.-based agency brokerage and technology provider, has named Brian Spengemann managing director of sales and business development. Previously a managing director in Merrill Lynch & Co.'s portfolio and algorithmic trading group, Spengemann has held senior-level positions at Credit Suisse, Lehman Brothers and Bankers Trust Co. "As a veteran portfolio trader and electronic trading salesperson with experience in international markets and listed derivatives, Brian will be instrumental to our future growth," said UNX chief executive Scott Harrison.
Open-source trading technology provider Marketcetera has added former Eze Castle Integration (ECI) president Christopher Grandi to its advisory board. Grandi, who spent seven years at ECI before starting buy-side consultancy Abacus Group last year, will act as a strategic adviser for fund technology and investment services for San Francisco-based Marketcetera. The two-year-old company "is positioned to unshackle the hundreds of financial firms who are beholden to the lengthy implementation timeframes, infrequent product release schedules and vendor lock-in that comes with proprietary solutions," said Grandi.
