BATS to Provide Data in Europe for Real-Time Index Calculations
October 22, 2012
BATS Chi-X Europe said it will begin supplying market data for calculating stock indices in real time.
The operator of the largest pan-European venue for trading in stocks said its data will be available for using in valuing indices throughout a trading day. The data can be combined with data from other venues, in valuing indices.
“We are expanding our market data offering in this way to provide a high quality and cost-effective alternative to the incumbent exchange offerings,” said Mark Hemsley, chief executive officer of BATS Chi-X Europe. “Customers are conscious that exchange index calculations, particularly intraday, do not fully reflect the market reality because many do not yet include our prices.”
Chi-X Europe handles roughly one-fourth of equities trading across the continent.
