January 23, 2013
Options, a London-based provider of financial technology services in the “cloud,” has hired former NYSE Euronext executive Danny Moore as its new chief operating officer.
At Options, Moore will lead the company’s day-to-day global operations, and oversee the company’s continued global expansion, according to the company.
Moore was chief operating officer of NYSE Euronext’s commercial arm, NYSE Technologies, until April 2010.

“Options already has seen 100% growth in the number of firms and users on our platform in the United Kingdom in the last 18 months,” said Moore, in an email interview. “And we’ve been successful in securing a number of quality anchor tenants in New York over the last year.”
The company’s PIPE platform and its Private Financial Cloud are used by more than 130 hedge funds, funds of funds, proprietary trading firms, market makers, broker/dealers, private equity houses, exchanges and global investment banks.
Moore said the company is looking to its Core package of infrastructure services, in the U.S. over the next two years. “Our focus will be on delivering a truly disruptive product into a market,” he said. “We believe that the market is under tremendous pressure to consolidate and hungry for some real choice and competition.”
Options was founded in 1993 as a hedge fund technology services provider focused on the London market, but changed strategies in 2002 to begin directly providing a cloud service platform to the financial sector. The PIPE platform is broken into three areas: Core solutions for email, phones and tablets; Momentum service for hosting and management of office applications; and Velocity solutions for market data infrastructure and connectivity.
Moore will be based in London and will report directly to Nigel Kneafsey, Options founder and CEO.
A well-known entrepreneur in Belfast, Ireland, Moore has created a trading technology company and an early-stage investment firm there.
Prior to joining NYSE, Moore created Belfast-based trading technology firm Wombat Financial Software, serving as both COO and Chief Executive Officer. He sold Wombat Financial to NYSE Euronext in March 2008, joining the exchange at that time.
More recently, Moore launched Belfast-based investment firm Lough Shore Investments [LINK: http://loughshore.co] in 2010 with partners. The firm’s highest profile investment was its backing of a local movie production, The Shore, which went on to win an Academy Award in 2012.
