Want to Practice Options Trading, Eh? Visit Montreal
September 12, 2012
Montréal Exchange has opened up a ‘virtual’ trading platform.
The derivatives exchange said it is now operating an options trading simulator to help investors learn the dynamics of options and options markets.
The wholly-owned subsidiary of TMX Group considers the simulator an educational platform and, as part of it, is providing online tutorials.
"We want to encourage investors of all levels, including students, to learn more about the derivatives market and to look to MX as the center of excellence of these highly specialized products,’’ said Alain Miquelon, President and CEO, Montréal Exchange. "
Montreal Exchange already puts on Options Education Days, and delivers training tutorials on m-x.tv and blog posts on optionmatters.ca.
The online tool will be used for the MX Options Trading Simulation program, an educational initiative announced in February.
That competitive program allows student teams from seven universities in Quebec to create and trade a virtual portfolio of $100,000. The winning team will receive a $10,000 prize.
