SWIFT Unit Releases Linux Messaging Hub
February 9, 2012
Global financial institutions can now install a messaging hub that runs on the Linux operating system, using software from a unit of the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications.
The Arkelis Advanced Messaging Hub (AMH) runs on Red Hat Enterprise Linux, an open source operating system for computer servers. The hub helps manage large volumes of incoming and outgoing messaging traffic.
Arkelis NV is a fully owned subsidiary of SWIFT, the global provider of secure financial messaging services.
Arkelis’ Outsourced Messaging service, based on the hub, provides a complete outsourcing of the financial messaging infrastructure, and is the first of its kind specifically designed for large Tier One financial institutions.
The Arkelis messaging hub was previously available with other proprietary software platforms. Red Hat and Arkelis worked together to port the AMH solution to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system.
Rich Feldmann, director, financial services industry, Red Hat, Inc., said, “The combined Red Hat and Arkelis solution gives financial institutions the reliability and performance they absolutely require to run their mission-critical messaging applications – all with the cost-effectiveness of Linux-based solutions.”
Hans Cobben, Chief Executive Officer, Arkelis, said, “Making AMH available on Red Hat’s Linux platform is another important strategic step for Arkelis toward deploying high performing and technologically advanced core messaging infrastructure for top tier financial institutions.”
