TECH TICKER ITG Flexes Its Algo Muscle
November 30, 2012
The ITG flexible algorithm allows traders to use a suite of single-stock algos. The technology arm of NYSE Euronext announces the launch of the OpenMAMA Enterprise Edition for middleware integration. Nasdaq introduces a browser-based utility to help broker-dealers derive value from stored data, documents and records. FSMLabs introduces time-keeping adapters for trading networks.
ITG: The independent execution and research broker announced the release of the ITG Flex Algorithm in the U.S. ITG Flex Algorithm, empowers traders to customize their trading strategies by utilizing the full suite of ITG Single Stock Algorithms. As market conditions change, ITG Flex Algorithm can employ strategies of multiple ITG algorithms while working a single order. ITG Flex Algorithm offers simple workflow automation, order management with benchmark price sensitivity and settings for flexible participation and opportunistic liquidity capture.
NYSE Technologies: The technology arm of NYSE Euronext announced the launch of the OpenMAMA Enterprise Edition as a part of its Open Platform which also features the Open Market Data Model (OpenMDM) and an upcoming OpenMAMA Enterprise Edition certification program.

The OpenMAMA Enterprise Edition is a commercial offering that is a fully supported, tested and certified distribution of the industry standard Open Source Middleware Agnostic Messaging API (OpenMAMA1). It provides an open, vendor-neutral integration layer for a variety of middleware systems, including NYSE Technologies Data FabricsSM.
The NYSE Technologies Open Platform enables users, vendors, and competitors to mutually benefit from a set of common standards and implementations through three key components: OpenMAMA, OpenMDM, and soon the OpenMAMA Enterprise Edition certification program. OpenMAMA, the backbone of the Open Platform, was open sourced by NYSE Technologies as of October 31, 2011 and is hosted by the Linux Foundation.
“Through our enterprise distribution and third party certification program we are working with our customers, partners and competitors to create the best solutions for our clients on an open, multi-vendor platform,” said Don Henderson, CTO of NYSE Technologies. “The NYSE Technologies Open Platform demonstrates our commitment to promoting and operating a marketplace where success is driven by innovation, value and quality through collaboration.”
FSMLabs: The provider of network software for high-precision time synchronization and distribution, have announced that TimeKeeper,TimeKeeper®, on Mellanox ConnectX®-3 interconnect adapters is available. The joint solution enables correlation of systems logs to system time, enabling auditing and analysis of multiple logs at the same level of time precision, plus the ability to synchronize both NTP and PTP time messages at sub-microsecond precision. Precision and reliability have been validated in production trading environments by several joint customers including a tier-one bank.
“The fluctuation of a few microseconds presents not only the risk of triggering badly timed trades, but also chaos in system logs that provide records for network analysis and regulatory audits. The combined capabilities of TimeKeeper and Mellanox provide end-to-end synchronization, timestamping and logging to turn mountains of non-aligned data into ordered and meaningful information,” said Victor Yodaiken, CEO of FSMLabs. “As the go-to high-speed server and storage interconnect solutions for InfiniBand, as well as 10/40Gbps Ethernet, Mellanox is already present in many computerized trading environments. These firms can now easily upgrade their time-precision strategies, gaining improved algorithm performance and massively reduced operational risk.”
